The Cessna 177 Cardinal is a four-seat, high-wing single-engine piston aircraft designed to replace the Cessna 172. It first flew on 15 July 1966 and was built from 1968 to 1978, 4,295 units in total. It differs from the 172 by its cantilever wing with no external struts and a full-span stabilator. The retractable-gear 177RG version uses the ICAO designator C77R.
