Robinson R66 helicopter price: new and used in Brazil

The new R66 starts at $1.456 million on Robinson's price list (Jan 2026). Across public listings with a price, the median asking price for a used one is $1.41 million.

According to Robinson itself, the R66 is the most affordably priced light turbine helicopter in its class (R66 NxG brochure, Feb 2026), which is why the price question comes in two forms: what it costs new, straight from the factory, and what it costs used, in Brazil. The answers live in different places. New has a manufacturer price list; used has listings, and most listings do not publish a price.

The new R66 starts at $1.456 million on Robinson's price list (R66 NxG, January 2026 list), before options, freight and Brazilian import clearance. In the used market, the median asking price across the public listings with a price that Jet Tracker monitors worldwide is $1.41 million, in a range from $650,000 to $1.92 million.

How much does a new Robinson R66 cost in 2026?

Robinson's price list shows $1.456 million for the R66 NxG in the base configuration. Treat it as the manufacturer's reference, not the final price. The list already includes air conditioning, Garmin avionics and a 2-axis autopilot as standard, and charges separately for items such as the removable auxiliary fuel tank ($39,400 to $73,600, depending on capacity), the cargo hook ($47,700) and the 3-axis autopilot ($27,300). A base color other than the standard white costs from $1,900.

For the Brazilian buyer, the US list price is only the starting point. Import duties, freight and customs clearance enter the math and make the cleared helicopter cost more than the list. Jet Tracker has no established average import-clearance cost for the R66; the step-by-step of what makes up that bill is in the guide how much does it cost to import an aircraft.

It is worth remembering what you are buying: the R66 is a turbine helicopter with a single Rolls-Royce RR300 engine, five seats (pilot and four passengers), cruise of up to 110 knots at maximum weight and a range of about 350 nautical miles with no reserve (Robinson, R66 NxG brochure, Feb 2026). It is that combination, a turbine at the most affordable price in the class according to Robinson, that sustains demand for it in the used market.

How much does a used R66 cost?

The used market is where the variation shows up. Jet Tracker monitors public listings worldwide: on Oct 11, 2026, there were 118 R66 listed, and only 48 published a price. It is the asking price, what the seller wants, and not the amount for which the helicopter changes hands.

In Brazil, the picture is narrower. Jet Tracker counted 32 R66 listed, only 4 of them with a price, with a median asking price of $961K. With 4 listings, the sample is small and the reading is indicative. We have no established price in reais: for a figure in reais, request a quote from a dealer.

What else affects the price of a used R66?

Two R66 from the same year can have very different asking prices. What explains it:

  • Total hours and hours to overhaul. This is the number one factor. The airframe has a scheduled overhaul at 2,000 hours (Robinson, R66 Turbine Utility page), and the RR300 engine has a 2,000-hour interval (Robinson, R66 Estimated Operating Costs). The main rotor and tail rotor blades also have a 15-year calendar life, and 12 components went from 2,000 to 4,000 hours of life (Robinson announcement, Sep 2024). The price gap between two aircraft usually reflects how much flying is left until the next major overhaul.
  • Recently completed overhaul. An R66 that has just come out of its major overhaul goes back to being worth close to the top of its year's range.
  • Avionics and options. What is installed changes the asking price. On Robinson's current list, the auxiliary fuel tank, cargo hook and engine inlet barrier filter are priced separately, while air conditioning, the Garmin G500H and the 2-axis autopilot are already standard on the R66 NxG (Jan 2026 list). On older aircraft, check what was installed.
  • Maintenance history. An aircraft maintained since new by a Robinson dealer, always hangared, with airworthiness directives and service bulletins up to date, is worth more. An incident in the history or a gap in maintenance drags the price down.
  • Documentation and import clearance. In Brazil, check the status in the registry (RAB), a valid Airworthiness Verification Certificate (CVA) and whether the import was done properly. The cost of regularizing outstanding paperwork falls on the buyer and should come off the price. How to read the registry is covered in the RAB lookup guide.
  • Pre-purchase inspection. On any used helicopter, close the deal only after an inspection by an independent shop with Robinson experience. The report sets the final price more than the listing does.

New or used: which is the better deal?

It depends on the usage profile. The direct comparison:

New R66 compared with used R66
CriterionNew R66Used R66
Price$1.456M list, before optionsMedian asking $961K (2012 to 2014) to $1.25M (2020 to 2024)

WarrantyFactory warrantyNo warranty, depends on the pre-purchase inspection
Initial maintenanceScheduled items onlyMay require an overhaul soon: check the remaining hours
DepreciationNo resale series established by Jet TrackerDepends on hours to overhaul and maintenance history

Those who fly a lot, such as in air charter or intensive training, tend to prefer new or nearly new, with warranty and predictability. Those who fly few hours a year for private use find a cheaper entry in used, especially in an aircraft with a recent overhaul. This is a market reading, not an established cost.

The R66 is also cheap to operate next to a larger turbine. The Jet Tracker cost engine estimate (version canonical-2026-09, 400 hours per year, Brazil Southeast) is $451 per hour in variable cost and $38,500 per year in fixed cost, which comes to about $547 per hour in total ($451 plus $38,500 divided by 400 hours). These are estimates, the same ones as in the R66 cost sheet, and not established operating cost in Brazil. Manufacturer reference fuel burn: 22 gallons per hour.

How many R66 fly in Brazil and what are they used for?

According to the RAB synced on Oct 11, 2026, Jet Tracker's executive segment counted 270 R66 in operation, one per physical aircraft. It is the second-largest helicopter in the segment, behind the Airbus AS350/H125 (303) and ahead of the Robinson R44 (172).

Source: Jet Tracker, RAB (ANAC, Brazil's civil aviation authority), executive segment, queried Oct 11, 2026. The fleet is young: 167 of the 270 helicopters are from 2020 onward.

By state (UF), the most common are those registered to operators in Minas Gerais (75), São Paulo (45), Rio de Janeiro (27), Goiás (23), Santa Catarina (20) and Pará (13). The state is the operator's in the registry: the RAB does not publish where the aircraft is based.

By regime, 260 are under RBAC 91 (private use) and 10 under RBAC 135 (air charter). In other words, the Brazilian R66 is, overwhelmingly, a private-use helicopter. The rest of the usage profile, such as training, utility operations and tourism, the registry does not distinguish.

For anyone weighing a purchase, the data point that matters is liquidity. On Oct 11, 2026, there were 32 R66 listed in Brazil, against a fleet of 270 in operation (Jet Tracker, public listings monitored and RAB). The model's listings are in the aircraft for sale radar and on the R66 market tab.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of a new Robinson R66 helicopter?

Robinson's price list (R66 NxG, January 2026 list) shows $1.456 million for the base configuration, before options, freight and import clearance. Options are priced separately on the same list (removable auxiliary fuel tank from $39,400 to $73,600, cargo hook $47,700). In Brazil, a cleared helicopter costs more because of taxes and logistics, but Jet Tracker has no established average import-clearance cost.

How much does a used R66 cost?

Across the public listings with a price that Jet Tracker monitors worldwide (48 of 118 R66 listed, queried Oct 11, 2026), the median asking price is $1.41 million, ranging from $650,000 to $1.92 million. By year range: $961K (2012 to 2014), $998K (2015 to 2019), $1.25 million (2020 to 2024) and $1.51 million (2025 onward). In Brazil, only 4 of 32 listings have a price, with a median of $961K: a small sample, an indicative reading. It is an asking price, not a closing price.

How many hours does the R66 fly until overhaul?

2,000 hours for the airframe (Robinson, R66 Turbine Utility page) and a 2,000-hour interval for the RR300 engine (Robinson, R66 Estimated Operating Costs). In September 2024, Robinson announced that 12 components went from 2,000 to 4,000 hours of life and that the main and tail rotor blades went from 12 to 15 years of calendar life. Always confirm against the aircraft's current maintenance manual.

Is a high-hours used R66 worth it?

It can be, if the price reflects the hours remaining until overhaul. An R66 close to its major overhaul costs less to buy, but the overhaul is expensive: work out the total cost (acquisition plus the overhaul spread per hour) before deciding.

Do I need a specific rating to fly the R66?

Yes: besides a helicopter pilot license, you need a valid rating for the aircraft. ANAC's RBAC 61 provides for a single-engine turbine helicopter class rating, and a type rating when ANAC deems it necessary (RBAC 61, section 61.5, version in force consulted on Oct 11, 2026). Confirm with ANAC, Brazil's civil aviation authority, the rating required for the R66.

How many R66 are there in Brazil?

According to Brazil's civil aircraft registry (RAB) synced on Oct 11, 2026, Jet Tracker's executive segment counted 270 R66 in operation, the second-largest helicopter in the segment. There are 260 under RBAC 91 (private use) and 10 under RBAC 135 (air charter). The model's listings are in the Jet Tracker aircraft for sale radar.
