Business aviation shows up in photos as a ramp of jets gleaming in the sun. The part that holds it all up sits behind a closed gate: the maintenance hangar, where every flight hour sold out front is born from hours of certified work in here. No aircraft flies commercially without passing through one of these doors.
An ANAC-certified repair station (MRO) is the maintenance organization ANAC certifies under RBAC 145 (Brazil's Part 145 equivalent): only it may perform and sign off the return to service of civil aircraft. Certification is scoped (airframe by model, engine, avionics, propeller, components), the list is public, and where these shops sit on the map says a great deal about where Brazilian aviation really lives.
Why 'certified' is a license, not a badge
Aircraft maintenance is not an open service market. Whoever performs it must be a certified organization, with a quality system, calibrated tooling, qualified staff and approved manuals, all audited by ANAC. The practical consequence is blunt and simple: work signed off by an uncertified shop does not count, and an aircraft with irregular maintenance loses the very standing of its Certificate of Airworthiness.
It is the link that closes the loop: certified air taxi (RBAC 135, akin to Part 135) operators are required to keep aircraft on an approved maintenance program, carried out by these organizations. Registry, operation and maintenance all tie into the same regulatory knot.
The detail that defines markets: scope
"Certified" never means "certified for everything." The certificate lists scopes, and scope defines each shop's addressable market.

Confirm in ANAC's public list that the organization is certified for your model (airframe) and for whatever will be touched (engine, avionics). A quote from a shop without the right scope is a quote for a different aircraft.

How many aircraft of your model does the shop actually service? Fleet served means parts on the shelf, mechanics trained on the type, and problems they have already seen before. The MRO directory shows capacity by organization.
