Cheapest business jet: 10 entry-level jets by used asking price
Among ten entry-level jets, the Eclipse 500 has the lowest median asking price ($1.275M), but only 3 are alive in the RAB, and older families like the Citation II ($922K) ask for less. In the Brazilian fleet, the cheap jets are the Beechjet 400, CJ1, Mustang and Phenom 100.

"Cheapest jet" has at least three answers: the cheapest in the world, the cheapest you can find for sale in Brazil and the cheapest to keep. They rarely point to the same model. This ranking uses what Jet Tracker observes in public listings and in the registered fleet, with the sample next to each number, and makes clear where the data does not exist.
Among ten entry-level jets selected for this article, the Eclipse 500 has the lowest median asking price in the monitored listings, $1.275 million (13 listings with a price, out of 33 aircraft listed), but only 3 are alive in the RAB (Brazil's civil aircraft registry) and none is listed in Brazil. Older jets, outside the selection, ask for even less: the Citation II median is $922K (26 listings with a price, out of 55). The cheap jets that actually exist in the Brazilian fleet are the Beechjet 400 and Hawker 400XP (130 alive), the Citation CJ1 (125), the Phenom 100 (175) and the Citation Mustang (88). An asking price is not a sale price.
Ranking: ten entry-level jets by used asking price
The list brings together ten families of very light and light jets chosen for this article, not every jet in the database. Outside it there are families with a lower median asking price or in the same range: Learjet 31 ($888K, 6 listings with a price out of 23), Citation II ($922K, 26 of 55), Citation Bravo ($1.85M, 12 of 26), Citation Encore ($2.12M, 24 of 62) and Learjet 45XR ($2.3M, 21 of 88), in the same Oct 12, 2026 query.
We sorted by median asking price, lowest to highest. The Brazil column separates listings for aircraft that are in the country, which tend to have a different price from the foreign market (taxes and import-clearance logistics, not established by Jet Tracker).

Source: Jet Tracker, public listings monitored worldwide and RAB (ANAC), executive segment, queries of Oct 12, 2026 and Oct 11, 2026. The Citation M2 would come right after, with a median asking price of $5.05M (14 of 41). An honest reading of the table: samples of 4 to 28 listings with a price, so the order among models with close medians (CJ1, Premier IA and Beechjet, for example) can flip with one listing. The CJ1's $422K floor stands out from the rest and may be an unusual listing; we did not filter it.
For the models with 3 or more listings in Brazil with a price, the median asking price in the country came out above the global one in three of four: $2.0M against $1.65M on the Beechjet 400 and Hawker 400XP, $2.65M against $1.8M on the CJ1, $2.5M against $2.12M on the Mustang. On the Phenom 100 the two medians are equal, $2.99M. Samples of 3 to 6 listings: indicative. For the math of bringing in an aircraft from abroad, see how much does it cost to import an aircraft; Jet Tracker has no established average import-clearance cost.
What is the cheapest business jet to buy?
Across the whole monitored base, the lowest median asking prices belong to jets from the 1970s and 1980s, such as the Learjet 25 ($395K, only 3 listings with a price), the Citation I ($720K, 5) and the Citation II ($922K, 26). Jet Tracker has not measured the cost of keeping aircraft of that age. Among the ten entry-level jets in this article, it is the Eclipse 500: a median of $1.275M and the lowest listing with a price at $799K, for aircraft from 2007 to 2013. It is a jet with 4 typical seats, 370 knots of cruise and 1,125 nautical miles of range per the catalog, out of production. In Brazil, the RAB has only 3 living Eclipse 500 (1 operational and 2 suspended), spread across GO, SC and BA, and Jet Tracker found none listed in the country. Before thinking about buying one, find out who does the maintenance and how parts arrive: Jet Tracker does not have that information, and an independent pre-purchase inspection is indispensable on any out-of-production model.
For those who want something that exists in the country's fleet, the three lowest-priced candidates are the Beechjet 400 and Hawker 400XP (130 alive, average fleet age of 24.9 years, 7 typical seats and 449 knots), the Citation CJ1 (125 alive, 25.6 years, 5 seats, 380 knots) and the Citation Mustang (88 alive, 16.7 years, 4 seats, 340 knots). Cabin and range change a lot among them, so the lowest price is almost never the best deal for your mission.
And among new jets?
Among the models still in production, the Cirrus Vision Jet has the lowest new price: $3.46M equipped (Vision Jet G3), per the B&CA Purchase Planning Handbook (Aviation Week, Q1 2026). In the same source come next the Phenom 100EX ($5.795M), the Citation M2 Gen2 ($6.995M) and the HondaJet Elite II ($7.6M). The Vision Jet is single-engine, has 5 typical seats and is the slowest in the ranking, at 311 knots of cruise. The RAB has 45 alive in Brazil, with an average age of 4 years. There is also the story of the Vision Jet certification with ANAC.

Source: Jet Tracker, model catalog (production and specifications), queried Oct 12, 2026. New price: B&CA Purchase Planning Handbook (Aviation Week), Q1 2026, equipped price, for the Vision Jet G3, Phenom 100EX and HondaJet Elite II; 2008 list for the Eclipse 500 (Aviation Week, 2008). For out-of-production models, the catalog carries historical prices with no individual source, which is why they are not in the table.
As a reference for the distance between today's new price and the used asking price (it is not depreciation, because the years and versions of the listings vary, and today's new aircraft is a more expensive generation than a good part of the used ones): the Vision Jet's median asking price ($2.72M) sits 21% below the equipped new price ($3.46M); the Citation M2's ($5.05M), 28% below the M2 Gen2; the Phenom 100's ($2.99M), 48% below the 100EX; the HondaJet's ($3.73M), 51% below the Elite II. The M2 listings with a price range from 2014 to 2026. What Jet Tracker measures and does not measure about loss of value is in aircraft depreciation.
How much does it cost to keep a cheap jet?
The purchase price is only the start. By the Jet Tracker cost engine (version canonical-2026-09, estimate, queried Oct 12, 2026), the total cost per hour at 400 hours a year is $2,147 on the HondaJet ($1,482 variable per hour), $2,285 on the Phenom 100 ($1,740) and $2,544 on the Citation M2 ($1,766). The Learjet 75, the most expensive on the list, comes to $3,929. We did not query the engine, in this article, for the Vision Jet, CJ1, Mustang and Eclipse 500: the cost of each is on the cost tab of its sheet, such as the one for the Phenom 100. The full table by model, with cost per mile, is in business jet cost per flight hour.
If you are going to fly little, the math changes sides. In the Jet Tracker cost comparison tool, with the Phenom 100 bought for $2.4 million, a 5-year horizon and a residual of $1.95 million, the average cost per hour of the owned aircraft is $7,430 at 100 hours a year and $3,637 at 300 hours, against $4,025 per hour for charter. Charter, in that scenario, assumes $3,500 per hour plus 15% positioning: it is an assumption of the comparison tool, not a quote. The tipping point sits between 100 and 300 hours a year. New or used: what pays off at the entry level?
The data in this article does not decide that for you, but it shows the terrain. In the range up to $3 million, the game is in used and older models, which are the cheapest to buy and, generally, the most expensive to keep because of age (the living fleet of Beechjet and CJ1 averages over 24 years old in Brazil). From about $3.5 million, the equipped price of a new Vision Jet, new and recent used start to compete for the same budget. In any case, get an independent pre-purchase inspection, check the history in the registry (RAB) and ask for the engine status. The step-by-step is in how to buy an aircraft.
Before comparing listings, find the reference value of the aircraft with the Jet Tracker aircraft valuation tool, and see the Brazilian market listings in aircraft for sale in Brazil and in the radar.
Is it worth buying the cheapest jet possible?
The cheapest is almost never the right one. First define how many people, what distance and how many hours per year. The Eclipse 500 and the Mustang carry 4 typical seats; the CJ1 and the Vision Jet, 5. If your route requires 6 or 7 seats and more than 1,300 nautical miles, those models simply will not do, and the cheap one becomes money sitting in the hangar. Choose the smallest jet that does the mission with room to spare and compare the total cost, not just the listing price.
- For little mileage and a first jet: look at the Vision Jet (new or nearly new) and the Mustang.
- For more cabin and speed for less: Beechjet 400, Hawker 400XP and Premier IA, keeping the age of the fleet in mind.
- For support in Brazil: the Phenom 100, with 175 alive in the RAB, is the most numerous on the list.

Is it better to buy a new or a used jet?
It depends on the mission and the budget, and Jet Tracker's data does not decide that. To see the terrain: the used median asking price sits below the 2026 equipped new price by 21% on the Vision Jet, 28% on the Citation M2, 48% on the Phenom 100 (against the 100EX) and 51% on the HondaJet (against the Elite II). It is not depreciation, because the years and versions of the listings vary. In any case, get an independent pre-purchase inspection and check the RAB.
Can you finance a cheap business jet?
It can be structured with a fiduciary lien, a mortgage or leasing, and all of them depend on registration in the RAB. Rate, term and down payment vary by bank and Jet Tracker has no established figures for them. The aircraft financing guide covers what the rules and the banks' official pages say.
How much does it cost per year to own a cheap business jet?
In Jet Tracker's cost engine, the Phenom 100 has $217,975 of fixed cost per year and $1,740 of variable cost per hour, that is, about $392K per year of operation at 100 hours and about $740K at 300 hours, without depreciation or cost of capital (estimate of Oct 12, 2026). The cost calculator lets you change the hours and the assumptions.
